You do know that it was a scam, don't you Pat?   But then it might have been worth it to have Mr Muscles, and presumably tight-buns, working on your driveway.  Ah memories!

Bargain or scam
Doesn't matter. The thing is, you weren't going to spend the money in the first place. You don't need to be told what you want. When you are ready, you have thought about what you want and have looked at some options, and, have saved the money, you can make your decision then. You definately would have had 'buyer's remorse'.

Geez - I've never heard of that scam...before now, that is. I guess you did the right thing, Pat-B. Kabu's idea was good.

I say scam.  Here is a warning from the MO Atty Gen:  "Beware of any solicitor coming to your door offering driveway repairs. One of the oldest scams around, a con artist comes to a consumer's door and claims to have leftover asphalt from a nearby job. He then asks for payment in advance, then does little or no work. There have even been instances of workers painting a driveway black after being paid, then disappearing."

darling...a scam forsure....he saw you the perfect target and the driveway
in need of a touch up...his mouth would have been watering ...easy target...easy cash.....he came down 200 dollars ...he would do your half of the drive....we have to be smart and tough and never say yes in a rush. Did he leave a card? If he did ...and your neighbour agrees ring him and say you can just manage 1100 between you times beig tough an fixed incomes etc. If he really wants the work...he'll have another part load and will do it for 1200. otherwise it is a scam.

Pat_B, I think you did the right thing..I would have done the same...
If it just sounds too good to be true, it usually is....(that reference he made to "leftover product" would have set off an alarm bell for sure)
