the puprpose of the constitution and bill of rights and our basic freedoms

is to protect the minorities from the oppression of the majority

we don't want a Christian tyranny.

you believe what you believe

i believe what i believe

and others believe what they believe

and nobody has a right to tell anybody what to believe

and one religion has no right at all to dominate public affairs

Corbin

Excellent points! Why is it that I, the non-believer, do not have the slightest problem with any religious displays anywhere, anytime, and yet so many do?

My objection to the mosque near the WTC site is based on the fact that Islam is not just another religion, but an intolerant, supremacist religio-political ideology in whose name the WTC was destroyed and thousands were murdered in the process; an ideology in whose name terrible crimes are being committed as I write this. I would prefer that no mosques be built anywhere!

And I am fully prepared to change my views, as soon as I see Muslims everywhere renouncing the poisonous elements of their faith...But I won't hold my breath...

As I have stated before, I do not agree with Dawkins and others that all religion is pathological - but there can be no doubt that Islam is pathological...
