Breadloaf
Right! This was the place I was talking about in "The Robert Frost Tango".

earworm!
What a great expression, Pat! I've never heard it before and, yes, it describes that song's effect on me perfectly!
It just seemed written for that moment in my life - romantic and haunting! Thank you!

Re: The Fireplace at Breadloaf Inn-7am
Yes it is! Last I heard, though, it was exclusively a dorm and dining hall for the summer school (it's closed and maybe even inaccessible in winter). I've been there leafwatching in the fall - it;s breathtaking! There are B&Bs aplenty in the area and, at the bottom of the hill, there's lodging and outstanding food at The Waybury Inn, the setting for Bob Newhart's old series.
As for the summer school, there are/were 2 distinct sessions. I went to the first- 6 weeks of great, inventive credit-bearing courses, followed by the well-regarded and much shorter "Writers' Workshop" which had a reputation as a latesummer Bacchanalia. Whether deserved or not I was never in a position to tell, being pretty much broke by then. It might be well worth a visit by bloggers like us.
Thank you for the visit! Tell me if you go, okay?

It sounds like a slice of heaven...
Very evocative poem, wistful and hopeful. And the song you mentioned will be an earworm for the rest of the day...

Yes very poetical Bob I suppose those old Inns have passed on now. We used to call at one in the evening and in the cold weather the landlady dipped the red hot poker into the ale,it warmed up a bit, but always tasted a bit harsh somehow. Those were the days, brr.

Great posting. I loved it. And, I've always enjoyed that song. The first horse I ever took over a mountain pass was named Moriah, and I sang the song the whole way. LOL

Thanks for the visit! You know, even the sweaty carpentry and the waiting on tables was fun up there!
