Learning languages at a young age makes all the difference,
The refugee kids here in town rattle off like little gringos almost now. Their folks stumble and fall and are frustrated.
We learned Portuguese as kids in Rio, the folks got along, but that was it. The same for youthful Spanish in Guadalajara, while the folks then confused Spanish and Portuguese as they are so close as languages.
Too bad your folks didn't give you language as a tiny child..............my sister did for her two daughters, she only worked with them in English and her husband only in Spanish and the kids are easily bi-lingual now.
Other sister did not make her hubby speak Farsi to their children and so, the folks have language, but the kids do not.
Hope you make your pay out ~~~
