Somehow the title led me away from the "meat" of the poem.

People are weird. (Thank heavens, or we'd have nothing to write about.)

Yes, Ed was a pretty good cop but a very good friend. I found out about the doll when he and his wife came to our condo for supper. While Peg was getting a casserole out of the car trunk, I was standing on the porch and saw a shapely female leg kick upwards from the trunk. Ed bent it over and pushed it back in. Very weird sight. We had the makings of a good conversation that night, I can tell you!

We had a guy here in Colorado a year of so ago who got caught with a dummy in the front seat so that he could travel in the fast lane. Once caught, he was sentenced to stand beside the highway with his doll and hold up a sign saying something about the wrongs of his deed. He actually made out, selling the doll on e-bay for a tidy sum.
