Um, Teach? (my hand in the air here). Seeing the comments, I'm not sure that I'm reading the same thing as the others do in this post. Among other things, it's the racial profiling bit that got me. I'll come back in tomorrow morning and read it again.

When it comes to new nouns (people, places and things) I think that we tend to hold onto our skepticism because of the comfort familiarity brings with it...I like how you turned the tables about who should technically be racial profiled if such a thing were just.

Hm, this is thought provoking but scary. In previous centuries crime has reduced when people have spotted the possibility of a decent life-style, but on of the problems now is that some people have such an opulent life-style that everyone else wants the same. We're no longer content with having enough. we always want - need - more. Wish I knew the answer (then I might become rich...)

Well I don't know if it is like this the world over dsm, but I bet if we were being attacked by aliens everyone one would instantly become friendly, If this is in our make-up a kind of tribal condition what can one do. Although I agree with what you say usually if I can understand the theory behind it.

THIS BLOGGER IS SCARED BY ANY NEW IDEA
I am one who does not like change and I have to always work my way through any new changes until it becomes familiar to me. It took me 3 yrs to get up the nerve to leave my familar surrounds in Texas and move back to Calif. I am finally settling in with my sister and her husband..but after the verbally abusive marriage I left, I just don't have the energy for another relationship or maybe it is the fear of another bad one/LBJ

Re:
NiteTide, don't forget we've ever only educated the half of the population; the other half learn differently, and we don't accomodate them.

Students, more and more, are becoming co-dependent on parents or systems that "mollycoddle" them and it shows in our dropout rates in high school and in college. More and more students are being medically labelled and having parents demand accommodations to the Nth degree. So many of our nation's youth are being smothered by "care" and "understanding" that we've stolen their chance to live independently...at least that's how I feel sometimes. Other times I'm happy that there's help in the world...then again, I think it might be too much.
