lilacs
They are one of my favorite flowers. I grew up in the Bronx and all we could grow in the windowbox was geraniums. My mother used to walk us over to the Botanical Gardens 3 miles away just to visit the lilac bed and enjoy the smell. (Ever smell a geranium? Yech!)
