You're right. People don't think well when it comes to something like this.

I agree with Simone on this one. It is hard to believe there is no other suitable land available in the city to build the Mosque. Why foster hatred? The empathy needs to be practiced in the good Muslim camp.

FSI, The number of Muslims everywhere is growing.  We need to learn to live together.  In my class we used to sing an old country classic "Everything is Beautiful" by Ray Stevens.  We all understood the meaning of the words quite clearly!

What is ridiculous to me in all of this is that somehow all these people
who are so full of fear assume there were no Muslims killed in and around those two HUGE buildings full of people when this happened.

"Imagine being the family of Salman Hamdani.  The 23-year-old New York City police cadet was a part-time ambulance driver, incoming medical student, and devout Muslim.  When he disappeared on September 11, law enforcement officials came to his family, seeking him for questioning in relation to the terrorist attacks.  They allegedly believed he was somehow involved.  His whereabouts were undetermined for over six months, until his remains were finally identified.  He was found near the North Tower, with his EMT medical bag beside him, presumably doing everything he could to help those in need.  His family could finally rest, knowing that he died the hero they always knew him to be."

How many people consider the feelings of "these" families?

Teach

Quite simply the act of building that mosque there would be a sacriledge.

"Sacrilege is the violation or injurious treatment of a sacred object."

That site is a sacred site just by virtue of the fact that innocent PEOPLE were butchered there,by people that believe in some form of Islam.

If that building is allowed to happen, America will have lost it's usual common sense.

Like you I wish there was more sympathy toward those of the Islamic faith as a whole.

The idea that God would take sides in human debates is pretty obnoxious to me.

I say absolutely no... and it has nothing to do with prejudice

When I hear "G-d is on my side" I shiver... It is WE who are supposed to be on His side and if we are , then we are filled with love and hate has no place in our hearts.  Of course that is in a perfect world which WE know WE do not live in a perfect world, far from it, and in this imperfect world to build a mosque blocks away from the site of the towers is paramount in the mind of many as sacrilege... It would be like Playing the video of fires to the patients in  a burn unit... or of violent car crashes to the parents of children killed in car accidents...  The patients know those fires are not the ones that hurt them and the parents are aware the accidents are not the ones that caused the death of their babies but still the viewing of these videos would cause immense pain and suffering to them.  The sight of a Mosque in lower Manhattan would be just that... a thorn in the heart of our Nation because in that case we were all affected with the pain of what a few muslims did that day and though we, in our minds , know that there are "good muslims"  that they are not all like the craze fanatics that drove those planes into  our buildings... our hearts will feel the pain all over again if we are constantly reminded of what happened.  I personally t hink that it is insensitive and cruel for those "good" Muslims to ignore what building their temple there would do to those that mourn their loved ones...not to mention that the building of that Mosque in defiance of our pain will undoubtedly foment more prejudice and hate towards them.  So,  until the world becomes that  perfect place  I spoke of before, in which we are so filled with love that we have no [place for hate... I think it would be a good idea to build that place of worship somewhere else.

Be well DS  xoxoxo
