That was the best you could have done for your kids.  It sheltered them some form what was going on in the towns.  We were raised in the mountains 30 miles from town it sheltered us allot in fact some of my friends still say I am very naive about somethings, which is true/LBJ

Yes, and what was the most fun when you were playing hide and go seek.  The kids just can't do that now for fear harm will come the them/LBK

We can learn a lot from this generation I feel. A lot of great arts and ways of life have gotten lost over the years.

the part I miss the most is playing outside till dark and than

playing in the dark until everybody else went home.

I do love this and makes me think back....and wonder how we survived
but we didn't just survive...I think we thrived ...I was a sickly little kid but I think the freedom of where and when I lived strengthened me up ..pluss the fresh milk and cream, home grown meat and vegies and fruit.
