Re: Interesting CORNCAKE
You know so many songs Bill I don't know how you go to work and deal with this, I keep thinking I must cut down on comments, perhaps it's a sign of insecurity

Shobana
Thank you Shobana, the trouble is your emanation is rather tantalizing. The second thing is I don't like to praise you too much because I know that you will write brilliantly in time, your poems constantly improve, but don't think I am an expert, I just write verse That is only my opinion, and I do like your work.

Interesting CORNCAKE

ZThis reminds me of a country song by Tom T. Hall. It’s not from his point of view then (His now) but from the senior man sir. Excellent!  BC-A, Bill’s RJLst

Re: Taps
Wicked really Taps. He was only a youngster, perhaps they didn't mean to keep him going so long, but once one gets past a point of no return.

Don't ever stop writing poems!

Speaking of old people, did you hear about Japan's oldest man who was thought to be 111?  Someone went to interview him about his longivity recently and the family wouldn't let them see him.  As it turn out, he died thirty years ago and the family kept it a secret--dead body still in the house.  People are strange.

Corncrake
CC, you always write things that make me laugh and smile. Your poems are humorously told and brilliantly portrayed and I love reading all of them, so I am not sad ok ..just a little subdued. Thank you.

Re: dsm
Thank you dsm one has to be resilient to make it over the top. I suppose the brain adapts to the ongoing experience one thinks one would hate it but that was yesteryear.

Re:
Well spid I have to say that because I do cause offence at times not meaningly but words have different meanings to some people and what one would say to someone's face with a chuckle might seem outrageous on paper. I was talking a rather esteemed lady I gave her some plums one dropped on the floor, she was going to pick it up, I did it for her and tossed it away saying "you can't have that, germs.'  She tried to hit me on the head with a small branch. Yes I enjoy reading what comes into your mind. I am always serious and I was not going to write long replies today, but only one to go.

Re: 103
I was just wondering why is he calling himself 103 memory lapse. Conkers slang for Horse Chestnuts. One old belief was if one keeps one in one's pocket  rheumatics would not strike, I have known one or two old boys do this, but I think one of them was doing it for piles. Sadly all The Horse  Chestnut tree around here are beginning to suffer from a disease I hope it can be resolved or they will go the way of the Elm trees.

Re: CORNCRAKE

Hi Wiley I guess they were a welcome sight to the chaps who were coming back from action.

When we were conscripts the old radio was always belting out Vera Lynne Singing The white cliffs of Dover. Question Time perhaps I have not been able to do much else.

Re:

Thank you Shobana, I used to see a lot of what I thought were old ladies sitting in their cottages wedding photo on the sideboard, I may have told you this I was only a boy but I tried to look at them to visualize how they used to be, they were chatting away to my Father at the time.I keep trying to write things that wont make you feel sad, but to no avail

Thank you Simone, years ago an old lady said to me 'no body gives me a kiss these days, she looked at me and said 'unless this young man will?'  I just remembered it and wished I had

An interview with a lady of 103
I am always fascinated when one of God's creations can converse intelligently up to and beyond the age 100, I think its close to miraculous.
