Hi dsm There was a program once featuring the girls who worked on the Enigma machine at Cheltenham of course they were old ladies, but photographs of them as young woman showed them beside this massive construction, I suppose it was the Computer of its day.

How soon every thing turns into history, we were all advised to eat carrots to help us to see in the dark. Supposedly the pilots were doing this and becoming more accurate targeting, but it was Radar doing doing the business.

Ash, thank you.  I have another Ken Follet book, the only one I haven't read -- devoured, called A Place called Freedom.  I'll let you know.

Sinome, they did not, I imagine and blogging is something we can be damned grateful for.  I think that whole hanging for having different ideas is totally not good.  Thanks!
