Unbelievable it is that they are providing cellphones. The spending continues to be mind boggling.

Wow, it may be worth it to stop working and going on welfare
and play all day, and even get a cell phone. No I am not going to throw up, I am going on welfare

TT, I agree with the notion that entitlement programs dip too deep into the tax base; yet this is a period of real adjustment economically. Our gpd has gone from production and manufacturing to consumer-driven. When consumers lose their jobs it puts a strain on the economy. Also, we have outsourced many sectors of the economy in the last few decades, and our industrial base has been overtaken by rival countries. This is good from the standpoint of global stability, since the new rivals at one time were considered enemies to be reckoned with, (some of them militarily): namely the BRIC nations (Brazil, Russia, India and China).
But, it leaves us in the unenviable position of having to 'invent' new ways to grow the economy. Green technolgy holds a lot of promise, as well as digital: information and communication devices and service. So, we are in an adjustment period which is endangered by polemic rhetoric from extremist groups who are considered shortsighted -- even by honest Republicans. Personally, I cannot think of another human being with the IQ and mettle to lead during this period, except maybe Jeb Bush. The rest are idiots, narcissists and cowards (present company excluded of course). And I mean in both parties. That makes this upcoming election at least as interesting as 2008 to me. I wish more people would open their minds and see the big picture, and not be part of the rabble, headed en masse either left or right.
Good post.

You're Paying for It...What's Next?
This is very upsetting. We work our rears off to pay for what we have and Obama is giving things away that we are paying for!/LBJ
