But when it's not the first marriage, then what?  The subject of expected virginity has a lot of variables.  The Bible tells us that the only one with whom a person should sleep is the one to whom they are married.  According to what your mom and many others said about virginity being the best gift a woman can give her husband, that's true from both spouses.  Does that mean, however, that if it's not the first marriage, there is no sacred gift?  Quite a few years after I divorced, I married a widower.  Although there was no virginity, each of us treasures that relationship with the other.

Both the woman and the man's virginity should be considered sacred. How precious and how rare a case for either to wait.

I Hear what you are saying here...
It is an age old injustice against women.... When men have more than one sexual partner they are called 'STUDS', when a woman has more than one they are called 'SLUTS' - wether before or after marriage. THIS IS WRONG AND MUST CHANGE!.  Thank you for bringing this up.

We all get involved throughout our lives; and it should not matter about the past for that is what is the past! You mother had wise words, though! sam

respect her past and do not judge what has been before...love her now because now is what really matters.
I wish you luck

I think you answered your own question "If you loved someone, then you'll be ready to accept all the consequences". That's about right in my book - I really don't think any one of us are placed to judge another.
