The problem with many insects is that they destroy crops,

carry deadly diseases, and are in their tiny way huge threats to human well-being.  But I don't kill every bug I see, and I never ever put salt on slugs just to watch them writhe.

I do believe that we humans take this 'dominion' thing way too far, feeling that whatever anyone else has, if they are not human, we have a right to take it if we want it.  Not just their meat for our food, but their fur for our cuddly coats, and their quality of life for our taste buds.  Or their habitat for our habitat...  Or their health and well-being, for our "lookin' good."

It isn't, to me, a crime to eat meat.  It is a crime to waste lives, to take lives thoughtlessly or cruelly, to treat other creatures as things only here for our use.

So on the whole, we agree!

I think the point is, not all living beings are equal. Bugs, insects, they are killed because they are an inconvenience, for sure, and it's the same as how we raise cattle and such for our food, without giving them their freedom and natural right to life, because it's all part of the food chain. Wolves and other predators would be after their prey in the wild; how we take our animals and kill them, sometimes eat them, is pretty much the same, albeit in a much more disgusting manner, the way pigs and chickens are farmed in horrid conditions.
