Amen. After having that happen to me twice (having a post deleted by accident, not my intent!) I can certainly echo a singing of the blues when it occurs. And, to be honest, I've deleted a post or two on purpose. Not really because I was worried about other people's opinions, but because I was in a foul mood and wrote that way. Not everyone needs to ride on my cloud when I'm storming! A thought-provoking post, to be sure. Thanks, FSI!

I delete posts too sometimes not being entirely satisfied with it or for the reasons you have mentioned..and now I realize your conclusion is so true. Thank you for your visits my friend.

I've pulled a few posts down, but not many...I think its a question
of timing...it "just doesn't feel right", but the next day may be absolutely a-ok...go figure!..

I've also deleted posts
quickly on purpose and accidentally. Some of what I consider my best pieces have not received much readership or comment. Other posts that are merely journal/diary entries do quite well. Go figure!

I've deleted many posts, some after a day or two, and often I delete all the pages except one. I don't see or have the need to keep my writing except for some of my poetry....

Yes F.S. I delete quickly sometimes. I feel the readers will find the blog slightly distasteful. Mostly it is probably annoyance. Sadly as you know some very good blogs are not commented on because the Author hardly ever responds. Perhaps they are read and not commented on I don't know the ratio to this. I don't think one needs to be heavy just a thank you or even a star. It is so much easier to click onto something fresh in comments than to appreciate an anonymous writer. The time factor also must be taking into account. Although I do really admire those who can blog and be oblivious to any reaction, they I feel must be content with life as it is. A good question would you personally blog if no one ever replied. My answer is No. So I suppose I am not completely content with life. Be lucky.

I'm afraid I have had a large share of those, both kinds--the ones I deleted on purpose, and the ones that just disappear for one reason or another. It always makes me feel like I have wasted my time, but I don't think that is necessarily true. At least I was thinking hard, stretching my brain, while I was writing. I could have been a zombie in front of the TV.
