Re: Lustor,
Any job is better than no job, unemployment is easy to get here and to keep on it, but that might be because they dont have the people to check deeper into those that are unemployed. At least he isnt sitting on a corner smoking a cigarette asking for a hand out.

Lustor,
I don't mean any disrespect, but here in FL, it is hard to get unemployment benefits. On the other hand, I know that California is a VERY expensive state to live in, so an $8 an hour job doesn't really surprise me that he got that, being a convicted felon. I'm happy for him that he got a job and that does show he made an effort, but would he have been eligable for unemployment benefits anyway? And, what does that say about a place that would hire him without even asking about his criminal past? Again, I'm happy he found an job and I'm rooting for his success. Just wondering about that stuff. I couldn't imagine surviving on $8 an hour in California

UNFORTUNATELY UNEMPLOYMENT CAN CREATE A SUBCULTURE
IN AUSTRALIA I KNOW AREAS WHERE FAMILIES FOR SOME GENERATIONS NOW HAVE NEVER HELD DOWN A JOB.

There are probably as many reasons as there are people. I have a feeling that some of them are pretty insecure, down on themselves, and intimidated at trying to find work. Many people were never helped with the motivation factor as they were growing up. One way or another, life is hard both for the worker and the one who doesn't. What bothers me the most are the ones who turn to scamming innocent people who are also trying to make it.

I have wondered the same thing myself. I see plenty of Help Wanted signs every where as the unemployment remains the same. I feel there definitely is an element of people not really actively searching. As to how many would admit I am not sure.
