cpklapper... thanks for this very informative comment
I'm not very political, so I really haven't thought too much on all these things.
I know that I don't like some of the things Bush has done and some of the positions he has put us in, but I can't rightly say that I hate the man.  I hate no one.

I would think some of the same reasons are why many people hate, but I am not in their heads and can't really say what makes their feelings so strong. Politics is controversial, so I guess differences of opinion can be enough to make some very heated.  Thanks for stopping by!

I have heard the same things said about Republicans and Christians

and especially George W. Bush.  I really have to ask: why do people hate the man so much?  Such hatred borders on psychopathic for some; for the rest, it is well over the line.  I have only seen such unreasoning hatred of another human being once before in my life.  Perhaps the Bush-haters are old Nixon-haters who have lost the object of their hatred.  They "don't have Dick Nixon to kick around anymore" because six feet of dirt is in the way.  Or was he cremated?  I forget.  Maybe I never knew.  But the "Bush haters" probably do and they will relish every detail of "W"'s death when that comes.

And all alone the way, they will spread that hatred to the Republicans.  Ah, but they will call it "humor" or, if not actually funny to their sick minds, "clever".  They have Republicans pegged:  The Republicans are all stupid except for the ones that lie.  They also can tell if someone is a Republican by their not hating Bush or by their criticism of Obama.

But they have more hate to spread.  They will then put words in the Christians' mouths or tell the Christians what the sermon was on Sunday.  It's a neat trick for folks who haven't been in a church in years.  Make that decades.  And they never listened to the sermon then.  But they not only know the content, but the Christian's reaction, too.  They know that Christians agree with everything said from the pulpit and are quite certain that this is important to all Christians.  They are so sure that they know everything about Christianity so they can hate them, too.  Since all Christians are Republicans -- another "fact" that "everybody" knows -- they are justified in hating Christians.

And so it goes.

And so it goes.

You have some very wise words in here that hopefully everyone can learn from.

Hi Amanda,
I think those who are rational minded do have potential too.
Those who are blinded by hatred, unfortunately will not.

Fortunately, it was not the irrational minds I was trying to change, but to let the good people here that truly practice tolerance remember that we are all individuals regardless of race, religion, or any other factor and that no one whole group of people should be singled out as being bad.  I think most people get that.

Good AND bad people live on our planet...
they do not wear tags of any affiliation, religious / national / political..it is their individual thoughts / actions that make them good / bad..to attribute an individual's thoughts / actions to a whole segment of humanity, based on some broad categorization / overgeneralization, is ignorance / irrational. Never be afraid to point that out.

Thanks Sam,
People too often forget that when they point their finger at someone, there are three more fingers pointed back at them.

I still like to believe that most rational people know better than to label a whole group of people based on the "sins" of a few.

Afzal, my love....
I know that you love everyone everywhere and never like to be upset with anyone for any reason.
That is why some of the behavior around here particularly disturbs me.

Sometimes people think they are good, kind, loving people. They have mirrors, but they are broken and they only see a distorted image of themselves.

Sunny
I agree with what you have written..There are bad people in all races and religions.  And when we post things like that it is done without thinking that there are people that race or religion among those who will read it..For myself I am truly sorry, and thank you for speaking out and putting us in our places/LBJ

WOW, Sunny, Powerful!
You said it all, Dear Friend; I am so glad you wrote this. It is past time to take a stand against this destructive and dangerous hypocrisy.
