Sometimes it is just brain chemistry...

serotonin gets low, or some other neuro-transmitter lags...  A great change in physical activity, like from lots to none can mess up a brain's balance for a while.  Exercise helps, as does getting a good night's sleep, or simply finding something to do--like write--to shift gears and get something creative accomplished.

Sounds like writing does it for you! Maybe not so much the golf, though...

RRR --- now it's said and done...and I bet you're smiling now  ~ I had a counselor once that yes recommended I write and so began my 'writing and journaling' and I do find yes, it helps with the doldrums.  I am pretty even keeled 'cept when I get 'enough' of whatever may be dished out that is as I say, "unfair"  - LOL is how I put it... Sometimes all you need
Is to acknowledge your unhappiness and your frustration and feel that people who care are listening.

Inspiration and other strangers....

± In any event I hung out. I received great reinforcement of inspiration for the story that I wrote last night. In fact I had to edit the description of the characters. I like my types. I’m only concerned that it came out too close but its fiction really. For you in real life people aren’t as easy to get along with. However you do seem to enjoy where you go love. BC-A, Bill’s RJLst

There definitely is something therapeutic about the whole writing process...I consider myself to go between highs and lows.

I know that feeling but mine is mostly frustration for not being able to do what my 40 year old mind wants to do versus my 66 year old body

Hello Rocking

You musn't despair, love.  We all get the blues now and again.  For myself, I do suffer from seasonal depression, but for the most part I think I'm pretty much okay most of the time otherwise.

Don't be too rough on yourself.  It may just be that perhaps you've been doing too much at one time?  Just relax and get some rest and maybe tomorrow will be a better, brighter day.  God bless you.
