- Go to The Decline of the Paper Check
FSI - a time ago I had the misfortune of a person keeping my bank card (accidentally) - and not realizing until after I had changed info and cancelled, all that goes with this type of thing...they told me in the course of not having my card to just write checks

I simply had gotten out practice and so --- I would cash a check at the bank in lieu of writing so many small ones. LOL - Oh dear what has happened... Elyse (great to read you - I will try and catch up but, I'm just rounding the corner of my daughter's wedding for Aug 14)

I always use my check card and pay online out of my personal account. I use a check from that account only when I need to pay something for my daughter because I do not want to tempt her with cash. On the other hand, my husband is not comfortable with technology so he insists on my using a check from our household account when I buy groceries. Yuck!

I recently had to write a check for something, and I was surprised how much time it took! LOL! I use credit/debit cards or online banking for the majority of things....but haven't we all gotten a big spoiled?

We still use checks quite a bit FSI but as you say would probably phase out soon as well.

it is interesting how the paper check has almost become obsolete...
I don't think it will ever completely disappear b/c it really does still have some very practical uses such as paying for those grass cuttings and snow shovelings, or for making a charitable donation.....

I'm so into all new technologies, but I still like my checkbook and checks.
Go figure.

Not only are the paper checks declining, so are the people who used them for so many years.

Uggh. I had to write a check the other day, I'd left my debit card at home. It was downright laborious. And stamps? Going up to 50 cents apiece, I've heard. So not worth it anymore. The downside is that who wants to be that dependent on the Internet? If it goes down, we're all handicapped. That's no way to live, either.

Very true! I rarely write a check! My debit card and on line paying has made it very convenient for me! I like having the money deducted right away, it can save an overdraft if one forgets to log in a check, especially when out shopping; and I have done that in the past! sam
