Re: janey
Thank you so much! Isn't it funny how such things became a solid part of childhood?  I am totally unpublished, I'm afraid, other than by winning competitions I'm at a loss at how to start trying to get in print

Re: Some times I have wished tobe a child again....I am glad mine was such fun
not sure I'd do it again, but the bits I recall were joyous

Re: Rockingrector_retd
These days, true enough, but it seems that the late 70's and early 80's had days like that (in my memory at least)

Outstanding! I could feel the pain for I had a taste of it today! My deck was hot today I could not stand it to water my plants! Of course, I was barefooted, just like the lads! But I am a wimp, I retreated quickly for I had nothing to prove, lol! What an awesome poem! sam

Made me think back to my childhood in Arizona.  Summer's were so hot and we had so much fun trying to cross the road, sidwalk, whatever, without scorching our feet!  So well written.  Have you published any work?

I have occasionally known those days, although it's rarely hot enough here to make bare feet on tarmac the least bit risky!

Such sweet memories... I felt as if I were there with you... way back when... again a little girl.  Superb Neil :-)  xoxoxo

Very fine and vivid.  A great choice of subject, too.  My hotfoot memories are of Coney Island, mincing fast across the boardwalk to the relative relief of burning sand and then, ah, the water.
