Re: loved the poem, but.........damaged goods a person? a human being
I feel the same as your friend, hence the poem.

loved the poem, but.........damaged goods a person? a human being
is never damaged goods! I had a discussion recently with a friend of mine who felt like she was damaged goods because her husband (that her parents arranged for her) abused her and used her, and than she divorced him. I would also feel like damaged goods after that kind of experience. But we are creatures of god, never damaged only set back.
ok thats enough of that,
still a great poem, with food for thought

There a lot of people who the system uses and throws away when their work is no longer valued. This makes me think a bit of
Death of a Salesman.

Re: Damaged
I think ash was referring to antique persons, but I wrote the poem more about discarded people. Antiques get better treatment.

Re: Re: Re: damaged
Speaking of rainy day poems, my all-time favorite is Housman's "Terence, This Is Stupid Stuff".

Re: damaged
"The Ruined Maid" was by Thomas Hardy, but I am honored in either company.
Thanks,

Grimly good! I'm keeping it for a rainy day - right alongside my ae housman favorites. Ever read his poem "The Ruined Maid" (or something like that)? Same vein. Very witty.
