Don't worry Bob these these things are etched so deeply in the mind that we bring them back dew fresh with the same unsurmountable anguish. I have faced reality and could not believe it was so a day later. Be happy

good to know that you manage to express it.
a close friend of mine experienced the same.he's over it but the scar is still there.of course it's absurd but sometimes he just wished that life works like cameras.where you can press 'delete' to erase the pictures you dont want to see.
but i guess if life's a camera,what a lame life it will be!

Yes it was, and I never understood exactly why, so I had to let it go. It was 40 years ago, and I got over it, but it's still pretty vivid, even from that distance. Getting it into words has been a big satisfaction. Thanks for the visit and your perceptive reading.

You're right - the event was back in 1970, but it can be fresh as yesterday if I let it in - and I had to in order to write this poem. Very strange stuff. I was tempted to date the poem 1970 and write "needed" instead of "need",
but the truth of the poem wouldn't let me. Strange stuff indeed.

Very cute poem, well said, and meaningful. I wasted so much time getting...
over the creep that broke my heart, cheated on me, etc etc. and after I wasted all those years getting over him I realized what a waste of time and energy it was, but it was already wasted. So I know exactly how it is....and how difficult and agonizing it was...
