well, since Germany bowed out, I will root for the underdog,
Netherlands...hopefully they will catch the Spanish team thinking they've already won the game before the ball is even kicked..

Well of course Spain is left after a less than professional rendition of the game and the Netherlands will take it all as I've said to Kabu from the beginning.

Oh well, I AM HAPPY: SPAIN HAS WON! I know, I know, both Son and my Mann are a bit angry at me...afterall I do love Germany, but my heart is still in Spain somewhere....So, VIVA ESPANA! And, frankly, it is better that Germany did not have to face Holland...they don't go well together...to say the least.

You are so right about the role of meeting expectations. I remember how disappointed those in the U.S. who followed the World Cup back in 2006 because they felt that we would be able to build off of the 2002 World Cup where we shocked people...It is interesting to see Europe's dominance in light of the Colonial themes.

Germany certainly could use a little good news and would have the biggest impact on the overall Euro-economy......

I would not have guessed that it would come down to only Europe in the finals.
