July 4 reminds me of the spirit of the Founding Fathers and how it's been
lost.
And it also reminds that rue patriotism is wanting our great naiton to be the best it can be.
Not what it is now.
True patriotism is NOT blindly following what is labeled as patriotism, such as backing an inanely stupid thing such as the military incursion into Iraq and thumbing our nose at the rest of world and feeling we are superior.
Patriotism is wanting our nation to exhibit the true spirit of Jesus' teachings, not the pseudo-Christian provincialism now exhibited by those Christians who want the rest of us to toe their line in opposition to the true spirit of our Founding Fathers.
The patriotism most on public display now is the kind of patriotism that no true patriot can and should adhere to.
