Owning land INCLUDING mineral rights, they own clear down to Earth's center
I think that this is true, anyway. This same property owner may even have some kind of legal rights, regarding the airspace above the ground level, if someone impedes their view, the weather, or sunlight. from outside his property-line borders. One can find a liar (Ooops! I meant lawyer) to sue for just about ANY reason, but I wonder how such a lawsuit would turn out. I do know that if a neighbor's tree grows across your property line, you are allowed to cut the overhanging limbs back vertically, back to the border line, regardless of the neighbor's protests. Also any fruit that falls onto your property belongs to you however, any damage liability to your property, pets, or family, by let's say falling tree limbs, belongs to the neighbor. Wouldn't it be nice to not share property lines with ANY neighbors?
I have a situation that is about as close to this ideal, as is possible, unless there is still somewhere on Earth that NOBODY yet owns. Failing that, my only neighbor lives across the road from my house, and my five-acre rural property is surrounded on two of the other three sides by open farmland and the third side, by both open farmland and a trout stream that is far too wide to be able to jump across. Hope this helped explain things to your son.
That's quite the boy you have there. an inquiring mind is always a good thing.
