loll NAut... I don't think they smoke "whacky baccy" ... but probably their leadership does business with the huge and quite wealthy muslim community that has descended upon England... specially London... and they are appeasing them. Antisemitism is alive and well as you know so it should not have been hard for them at all to make nice to their new partners. SO sad that they forget who their messiah was and what their Bible says. Be well xoxoxo

I attended a Methodist church when I was in college but I have no idea who they are; but, they need to stay away from politics in my humble opinion! Religion seems to have a different flavor that when I was growing up and searching in my 20's! I am very happy I belong to a religious society'! Shelly

Lust for earthly power is the root of all evil
In the days before the web, I had been told that "mammon" was "earthly power", however that manifested itself. This makes more sense as the "root of all evil" since it was in the temptation of the serpent while money did not even exist in the Garden.
Therefore, when churches seek earthly power, they tread on dangerous turf. "You cannot serve both God and Mammon."

"...It’s not their existence, But rather, exploitation,
That creates problems..."
~An exerpt from ash_pradhan's latest post. He was speaking of something else, but it seems to me it could also apply to religious people of all faiths, and especially to Christians and their churches and denominations.

There are as many religious and political opinions and positions as there are people on this earth. People who call themselves Christian, and who are of similar standing on certain Bible passages and teachings draw together to form churches, and churches denominations. But, even in those churches/denominations they are divided and often argumentative about what they believe and about Biblical interpretation. Thus it will ever be as no two people will ever totally agree on everything. So it is with anything human--politics, education, city governments, families, etc.
"In some awful, strange, paradoxical way, atheists tend to take religion more seriously than the practitioners."

Is There a Method to Their Madness
Naut, all of these machinations were set in motion in the 1930s, What we see unfolding now are the bitter fruits of their constant labors, Obama being the latest mouthpiece. And make no mistake about it, religon to them is just another obstacle to be removed, and they are close to doing it. joab

That was an interesting bit about the United Church in Canada having a lot of NDP members, I didn't know that. Unfortunately anti-semiticsm is raising it's ugly head again, but it won't keep on if Israel flattens Iran.

I grew up in the Methodist Church which was the family denomination
In Australia they joined with the Congregational and the Presbyterian churches to become the Uniting Church. I think they are probably a wishy washy mob these days but this idea in England is just anti Jewish sentiment which is rearing it'shead around the world ...again.

I find it disheartening a group of people would feel that way. As for why they are this way, a lot of factors are at play, I am sure.

I cannot tell you the "whacky backy?" of it Nautikos.LOL. I cannot tell one denomination from another myself but I know that there is an impending need to consolidate all christians into one but I don't know if that will ever happens. I always think politics should stay out of all religion imho.
