fsi, as you found out, the bureaucracy is nothing like running a business where, if you know what to do you can simply do it. But thanks for the vote of confidence. i recommend the book to you.

You have covered the lack of equity that public schools in the inner cities share with other schools. I find it sad that so many kids are going to schools like that. Thankfully, you seem to know what needs to be done...

What you have done here is written straight into the heart of the problem: The prevailing view of society that providing
truly equal opportunity for education will somehow leave our nation penniless and a slave to an unsustainable system. On the contrary, what sucks the marrow of our coffers dry is a populace that is split between the have's and the have-not's. A society that creates destitution and then bemoans the responsibility to care for the same. If, as a whole, we can stop being so terrified of the poor, then perhaps we could create a system that would help them find ways to avoid that situation in the first place.
