How Rich is Rich?
Hi JollyJeff, thank you for the welcome and for sharing your thoughts as well as reading mine. As for me the new kid on the block, I think rich means being able to write checks for any amount to cover things that are extremely important to us, and being able to take a vacation to any place at any given time. Last but not least to me being rich is being able to help those we love anytime we desire. I personally would like to be rich so that I can help sick and starving children as well as divorced women who had to start over and are struggling really hard.

For myself, having enough to be able to help out family and friends
and donating to my favorite causes generously without throwing my budget into a tailspin. Add being able to travel anywhere in the world several times a year, not necessarily in the lap of luxury, but quite comfortably, along with owning a recreational trailer. One house is enough; leaving it is the lure, lol. Probably adding 100k to the amount M. mentions would cover all of this nicely.

It's all relative. In some places outside the US, people think everyone here is rich just because by comparison we appear to be. IMHO making $250,000/year (after taxes) is rich. That's a quarter-million after all, and easily 5 times what my family brings in.
