I have the feeling I need to read back a bit! But this was very captivating and engaging! I delayed my medication for a couple of hours to try to get caught up on my reading but I must take it and return tomorrow to read more! sam

Well their was a lot of hypocrisy in those days, we have money, you are beholden type of thing. Even to the extent of offering help my mother told me when her Dad was killed  they didn't receive any money for ten weeks their was no communication and she said she didn't know what they would have done, but a lady in the village said she would lend the money  until it came through because her mother had come from a good family. I don't know what the one's from a not so good family did.  Oh and they were given a bowl of dripping each week by the big house, not bad for losing your husband was it

How awful ,,,the wealthier the household....the worse the conditions....
I never knew that the staff were starved like that.....what a disgrace.I continue to be so intruiged by this story.
