I love the subject and the mission, and serenity is what I long for now

This is great!
Serenity is so often lacking in people's lives and they don't even know what they are missing.

I find it in nature and historic scenes, despite harrassments.  And in certain prayerful and mental attitudes.

Your words brought me to that quiet moment, calm and serene, whoa...then like a brick wall, it hit. That's quite a twist at the end.

Re: individual serenity
Mine is found a hundred miles from the nearest motor vehicle.

Re:
For me, it is being able to make that journey without being harassed.  I was walking in the park to get away from motor vehicles, their noise, their fumes and the needless danger they inflict on innocent bystanders such as myself.  The snowmobile showed that no place, at least no place in my part of the United States, was safe for calm reflection and communing with nature.  It didn't used to be that way.

Serenity is very important and very individual.

I like your poem and am wondering whether serenity is a journey into the soul? Sorry it got crashed by the snowmobile!
