It reminded me of my bouts with clinical depression, one is physically present but the mind isn't processing, even though it gives a sense of understanding! And I thought this was very revealing and probably made him appear as though he was getting it:
Anyone who thinks the soul is the slayer, or that the soul is slain, both are ignorant; for, the soul never slays nor is ever slain. I think this is very true! sam
