I agree with you D... they should have had a worse scenario plan in place... This is unforgivable both from them and from our government.

Not too much to ask indeed for some extra precautions; and what a mess there is to deal with now. An ounce of prevention is worth a pound of cure, and all that...

It's all so heart breaking and no end in sight and I think it will
take countless years before the environment recovers. Oil certainly has been a wonderful product...but now the cost is too high. Thank you for exploring my questioon and they were good sites that you included.

This is a difficult issue with many angles.  Thanks for shedding light on some of them.  Alternatives would be best, but there seem to be none yet that are very practical for the masses.  Developing them to their greatese use is a good idea.
