Glad you liked it, Sam.
I didn't know that about you. My fear is that I might somehow inadvertently trivialize those I wish to lionize.

You know, Naut, I can still hear my grandfather:
"Right is right even if no one is doing it; wrong is wrong even if everyone is doing it."
By extrapolation, cynicism can sometimes cause murk, but cannot erase truth. Thanks for dropping in -- glad you liked my little missive...

Thank you for reminding us that today's cynicisms have not eroded the old truths - they are still truths...

Hopefully, no one.

Thanks, Kabu and Timmy.
This is a subject that's always close to heart and mind. Agree with the conflict or not, I owe them. Period.
We all do.

This leaves me feeling humbled, awed and small. Yes, we must give thanks.

So beautifully written that I cried....and I looked across at the photo of
Wiley's brother forever young and so handsome killed in the second world war. Wileys oldest brother, his hero in life and in death, and again I want to cry.
And I remember those that did come back and were changed, could never talk about what they saw and did and the fact that their mates died while they lived and the guilt they carry for having lived. Great post Strat.
