this is not something that i have personally done.just to set the record straight. but that is what catholics do, confess to the priest

Just go to God, the real one - Jesus Christ, and tell him you're sorry and promise and try to do His Will from now onwards and if you fall again ( which you might ) just go back to Him and do the same thing again and again and again until you're with Him in Heaven and all the sin is behind you.
For Heaven';s sake don't tell people to torture you and don't confess to the public. That's for God and yourself, no one else.

I am at a loss for words! I think one cannot serve their penance until they are truly contrite! Forgive yourself first and move forward! sam
