I myself do not see pot as being a big deal, so I say why not?

Re: SHOULD MARIJUANA BE LEGAL
why would that be the case?

SHOULD MARIJUANA BE LEGAL
Nope.  Just homegrown, organic -- and obscured from view. Legalized pot would be laced with chemicals that are already killing us.  joab

it's harm vs. benefit

not that much harm in spite of what naysayers want people to believe.

has much the same effect as alcohol.

it is a substance demonized by a certain segment of society, and many believe the line given that it is evil in spite of evidence to the contrary.

it should be regulated much the same as alcohol --

and, as far as leading to harder drugs, that's a myth.  many have tried it and stopped with MJ.  The reason harder drugs are then tried is that MJ is demonized just like they are (and so are some of the softer hard drugs) and when people try MJ and the softer, it isn't as evil as they are told, so they figure the harder drugs must be as harmless as MJ.

On the fence
and undecided about whether or not it should be legalized. I smoked quite a bit in the 60's and 70s but I understand it is much more potent today. My observation has been that it leads to other, stronger drugs if the person involved has addictive tendencies and/or is looking to self medicate. My daughter is an example of someone using drugs to self-medicate. I see both sides of the issue, so I have not been able to decide which is best!

lustorlove
I say legalize everything and then governments would have enough money without taxing us all to death. If people are going to kill themselves with booze, cigarettes, cocaine or whatever then so be it. That's better than being taxed to death, and it would wipe out the drug cartels in one shot..........

Re: Re:
I do not live in a medical marijuana state! But Oregon is, Washington, Montana, Colorado! I was thinking of moving to Medford, Oregon for that very reason. I have looked at housing and how it is situated in relation to major areas in the Northwest! It is about 6 hours from Boise, a little over 6 to San Francisco, and 7 to Seattle! But the short sale has stymied my mobility, I have to wait until it comes off the negative side of my credit report! It really messed up my score! And some other junk happened so essentially I am stuck for at least two years! I have a great little house so it will be easy to wait it out! sam

Re:
you are so right, can you get it in your state?

I think it has medicinal purposes! I have read that it is used for treatment of migraines! I think I would like to try that one day to see if it worked! I think it would serve a good purpose to be legal because I see so many people convicted with small amounts and they have never been in trouble! It can't be any worse than alcohol and I would venture a guess that it would be less of a problem. sam

Lustorlove,
I used to smoke it way back in the day, like in high school. I think I smoked it once or twice after that and personally, I don't care for it much. At least not as an adult. With that being said, I still think it should be legalized and taxed for those over 21. It should be the same laws as alcohol or illegal drugs when on the job, driving, caring for kids, etc. What people do on their own time and in their own home is their business. Again, I do believe it should be treated the same as other altering substances. You hardly ever hear of people committing crimes (especially violent crimes) when under the influence of pot. It's a natural earth substance unlike cocaine, crack, meth, heroine, etc. Just my 2 cents!

YES, IT SHOULD BE LEGAL.....
It is way more safer than Ritalin, THAT drug should be illegal !  It does much more harm than good and is given to our very young, what a crime !!

I personally do not think it should be legal. It may be the least dangerous of drugs, but I still think it can lead to others, if not only out of curiosity. I tried it quite a bit in the 70's and am glad I quit. I enjoy having a clear mind.
