Nautikos

{ The darnest things are turning private and that’s important as in this case. The institution or public services such as mass transit can be reevaluated based on management. BC-A, Bill’s RJLst

Last time I thought about this issue, I seem to remember
that about 80% of the prison population is inside for possession of marijuana and other recreational drugs. Here's a crazy idea: why not legalize it, tax the sales and use the revenue to rehab the users or educate them so they can hold down a job?  If we manufacture and distribute legally inside the U.S., we'd create jobs, maybe end some of that endless battle among drug gangsters in Mexico and points south.

Naut
All those jobs we have outsourced we should send these people to be trained in them to work for American Companies abroad wherever we have tech-support jobs. Could not be worse than a lot we get. Mexico comes to mind.

Naut I got an idea... maybe that corporation could start managing middle schools... there is not much difference between the dangerous  inmates they now house and kids 11 - 14 ... except maybe the kids are meaner... and think of the possibilities... both sides would benefit... the kids would get discipline they so badly need and are not getting from the government and the private correctional company would get more money so that they could expand their adult correctional fascilities. Plus there would be no need to export jobs!   Its a win win

Nautikos - That's all the two most populous countries in the world would need..more inmates..LOL. Bet they would be shipped to Canada!
