I'm Learning, I've heard the expression "invisible children" used in a

I will check it out, Pat-B, but not right now at 5 AM. I've read back over your posts, and still feel the same way I did the first time I read you. You are an excellent writer - I love the way you put words together. There is something about the way you tell of an event, or state a point of view, or lament a loss, or...so many other things you express in your posts, that grabs me every time. And that's APART from your fiction, which in itself if fascinating. Kudos, Pat-B!

Wonderful post that you left here, certainly makes me at least THINK about it even when I have seen some film on the subject, so many world problems it numbs the mind.

hope for the future.

I know about the utterly deplorable situation, particularly in Africa, but also in other parts of the world, though I didn't know about this organization...

"T

HE UNITED NATIONS ESTIMATES 300,000 CHILDREN UNDER THE AGE OF 18 ARE CURRENTLY FIGHTING IN CONFLICTS AROUND THE WORLD AND HUNDREDS OF THOUSANDS MORE ARE MEMBERS OF ARMED FORCES - EITHER BEING TRAINED FOR COMBAT OR USED AS LABORERS. PHYSICAL, SEXUAL AND EMOTIONAL ABUSE IS COMMONPLACE. MOST OF THESE CHILDREN WERE FORCIBLY CONSCRIPTED OR ABDUCTED BY FIGHTING FORCES TO BECOME INSTRUMENTS OF WAR, TO KILL OR BE KILLED. WITHOUT EXCEPTION, THE EXPERIENCE HAS DEVASTATING EFFECTS ON THEIR PHYSICAL, PSYCHOLOGICAL, AND INTELLECTUAL DEVELOPMENT."

Thank you for calling this to our attention.
