I had the strong impression years ago with a now-ex-husband that I was to watch what he DID, versus what he said. The actions told the story. So 'I'm sorry' only meant 'I'm sorry' when whatever was done was not repeated and made restitution for.
A tough subject, very nicely covered by you. It sure gave me a lot of food for thought.
