It's a lie that Thomas Jefferson wrote "all men are created equal" in the Declaration of Independence?  This is exactly what Rev. Sharpton is saying -- exactly the same thing -- all should be equal.

You can't be that stupid.....he said we are created equal.....not that all things available to us should be equal in proportion.   We have the same rights to be used to achieve.....not to take from one to give to another to make everything equal......Thomas Jefferson would have probably had you shot.

I have had enough of your insane babbling...you can join your son in the Never-Never Land of The Pod People as far as I am concerned.....

Re: Corbin = Posted by Justi

Justi - don't yo u wish you were cognizant of the world around you and history in particular?

Now, tell me -- what is hateful and lies about the following?"

then Thomas Jefferson was a socialist

Abraham Lincoln was a socialist

The United States Congress after the Civil War was a socialist.

And women's suffrage and the right of all people to vote as in Lyndon Johnson's Voting Rights Act and Civil rights Acts and other such measures aimed at equality for all are socialism.

And so is the passage in the Declaration of Independence that "All men are created equal . . . "

To you, socialism is giving everybody a fair shake in life -- an equal chance.

It looks like you adhere to the principles of "laissez-faire", where criminal acts can run rampant, and "Social Darwinism", where the toughest and fiercest and most conscienceless survive.

It's a lie that Thomas Jefferson wrote "all men are created equal" in the Declaration of Independence?  This is exactly what Rev. Sharpton is saying -- exactly the same thing -- all should be equal.

Abraham Lincoln ended slavery because he didn't believe that African Americans were a lower class of human being -- this is exactly the same as Rev. Sharpton was saying.

The United States Congress after the Civil War passed and the country approved the 14th Amendment to the Constitution, which gave African-Americans the right to vote, seeing them as having equal voting rights to European Americans and other Caucasians -- this is exactly what Rev. Sharpton was saying.

Oh yes -- you are considered equal to a man -- the 19th Amendment assured your voting rights.  That's hateful?  That's exactly what Rev. Sharpton was saying.

The Voting Rights Act and Civil Rights Act of the 60's were intended to give African Americans equal rights at the polls and in general -- education, jobs, housing, etc.  That's exactly what Rev. Sharpton was wanting.

The point is:  if what Rev. Sharpton was saying is socialism, then so are all these things I've listed.  He was saying that all should be equal -- that's what all these things also say.

This is not socialism -- it's Democracy.  Remember Democracy?  It's for everybody --  not just for you.

Let me tell what is hateful:  it is deriding those who point out the evils of society.  It is demonizing a person just because he/she is of another race or culture or religion.  You may try to talk around it -- but because the man is Rev. Sharpton, and a Black Man, you have more against him than you would a White Man.

You will deny it.

It's like with Rev. Wright.  He also is pointing out the glaring deficiencies in the U.S. -- the glaring inequality.

You would rather demonize him.  You don't want to listen to what he is really saying.  You want things to continue as they are.  The only problem is that things as they are -- the status quo -- contains glaring and immense inequalities.

You would rather invent some description of the Rev. Sharpton as espousing Socialism when he is wanting Democracy than admit the inequalities that exist in American Society.

What is evil and hateful is your attitude, my dear woman.  And that of your cronies that agree with you.

If I were to look around me, I would say that most of the people I know are satisfied with Mr. Obama's job.

Of course you'd say that...you only hang out with nuts like yourself!   I've already explained to you that the only thing I respect about your comments is your clicks.  I am not going to play your silly games......

Those that aren't are those who have been taken in by conservative Republican misinformation -- along the lines of the birth certificate thing -- that is, what's being spread around now (has to be a big manure spreader) is like that -- sowing seeds of doubt where there really is no doubt -- implying motives that aren't there -- etc.

The Big Lie of Conservatism has taken in quite a few people -- mainly because its purveyors sound so sure of themselves when what they support is extraordinarily faulty.

Sharpton is wrong, as he usually is. The (not neccessarily 'overwhelming') majority of American voters elected Obama for a variety of reasons, one of them being that they were taken in by the 'Rhetoric of Change', and who really didn't understand what he was all about...
