- Go to Living with Jag: Strange Vibes…
Nautikos, it's a toss-up. I've seen my dogs react strongly towards someone I am wary of, but they have also astounded me by doing the same to someone I am perfectly neutral about when meeting for the first time. Usually I discover that the dogs are right. I would trust Jag.

Jag is as
perceptive as his master! BTW, Happy sushi eating whenever and where ever you do it! The place you described sounds nicer, more relaxing, than the assembly line type I described. Just as well to eat at a standard like shop with the non moving, stationary, counter!

You had an instantaneous distrust of this guy, so why not Jag? Dogs are highly intuitive, I think....Mal

Poor Jag ~ (love poodles - love the name) I think he was wary for a reason - and I think also Jag's adoring his Master. awww. (did Jag get a treat? before or after your scotch?) Elyse

I think dog's can sense their masters feelings and act accordingly.

I believe it was an extension of your reaction! I love his show of disgust! Shelly

I would guess that your doggie is so in tune with you, that he was aware that you had misgivings about this person and for that reason hesitated to be friendly.

J Your dog probably takes cues. I mean I think the dog’s response within the knowledge of animal psychology. It seems to fit a learning theory in behavioral psychology for humans. lol. BC-A, Bill’s RJLst

Nautikos - I find the name of your poodle - Jag, fascinating. I think animals have an instinct about danger and probably that guy is a dog serial killer.. who knows. It makes for a really good idea in solving your mystery - hopefully.

Jag has a well developed sense for 'evil' is my thinking, and you described it so perfectly I have no doubt about it. Now you be careful out there my friend, remember, we are the old moose in the forest and the young wolves are out there waiting to pounce for a wallet,

'They' (whoever 'they' are) say dogs and children definitely know when something is amiss in a person. It's their only defense to sense danger....and they do it well. No use sticking around to see if you're right or not, just to satisfy curiosity. I've been 'polite' before and have been sorry for it. Often the first impression is the right one.

Dogs are a lot like kids... they say a young adult doggie has a mental age similar of that of a two year old child... Now every mom ( and probably every dad as well :-)) will tell you that children pick up on the parent moods... sadness... happiness, nervousness etc. So my guess is that Jag sensed your dislike and so disliked as well... now was it a vibe? a subtle smell? or just a six sense that told you this guy is "weird" That is the mystery :-) Be well and just in case stay away from the annoying young man xoxoxo

I am thinking that if he smelled a bad reaction from you towards this guy
he would have been more likely to protect you, growl, warn the guy to keep his distance. I believe he smelled, got vibes, whatever tells a doggie the truth, but he definitely knew this man was all wrong, best left alone.Only people who live really close to an animal really study them get to know how darn intelligent they are. We have much to learn.Give Jag a pat from me.
