I can relate to this, having had so many quirky professors. All of them very educated, talented, and well-meaning. I think the quirkiness is what made them even more memorable. But it is funny when they run away with themselves in their behavior in the classroom, and the students feel like a helpless audience. That's when it can get a bit nutty.

You said it right, Passionate to a 'fault' - I'm certain it did turn you and others off - But you know what FSI - you recalled much of what she said - I know of bellowing - it happens.  I am one that can get higher pitched when I'm passionate about something and I truly don't like to hear even myself when I get that loud LOL- so I'm certain it took some off guard.  Elyse

Oh dear..LOL. I suppose she thought that if she shouts it out it would probably sink in better. Cute FSI, she sounds. Thank you for the visit.

I find it very difficult to address a subject about which I am passionate without raising my voice.  I don't exactly yell, but the more important something becomes to me, the louder my voice gets (until someone usually says, "You don't have to yell about it," and then I embarrassedly quieten down.)

It is difficult with students with disabilities! One has to consider mainstreaming them, and the effect they have on the classroom as a whole! It is a battle for student and parent! The school district I worked prided itself in helpping students with disabilities and had some very onnovative programs. It was actually so good that people moved to the community to take advantage of the programs, and that I will say is a wonderful feather in the cap of a district! People that yell turn me off and I tune out! But I can appreciate her passion! sam

I was always taught that if you need to shout, it proves to your listeners that you've already lost the argument!
