Actually, I remember the
very first time I was Sir'd, 'over there', it felt
good! I was finally an adult, a
man! It's only
now, 'over here', that the sound of it no longer has the same satisfying ring to it...

Soft drinks aisle
As one gets older people look in amusement as one struggles to pay by handing over one's purse, just because it is is too damned boring to sort through the change. One finds a gentler feeling emanating from conversations, whereas one might have found hostility, one finds acceptance. Of course I don't know what will happen when one gets violent.

I love people, and you paint such wonderful pictures of them with your words. The pictures that I see are much like Norman Rockwell paintings. You are good!

Nursing, taught me lots about body language I would not have called you
deary or darling or love while I was working with you, but some people when they are ill or just too old really love to be babied so it is all about reading the signs. Great post .....oh and Asians as a people...very difficult to read body langugage because they are so polite and have the ability to veil their eyes, excluding you from there soul.

That was a lovely write, and I understand that ma'am thing, as Corbin says, it's also difficult to get used to 'sir.'
