Chaucer did more -- or as much as -- shakespeare, you are saying, to
propmote what we now call the English language  How interesting!  Yet, one wonders that humanity has learned so little in the five centuries.  Even in our very midst we commute daily with the Monk, hunter with fur sleeves, and the lying, scurrilous Priest.  And so we deduce, that language(s) evolve faster than human minds.  Is this because language is psychological, or because people are trapped in cells and social networks with strict adherence to dogma?  This is the true shame that another famous brit tried to point out, John Lennon: Imagine no religion?
