Time is not on our side at least, not always on our side.
I managed to sneak in that last visit to my friend and your letter arrived too late. I wrote a letter to an old friend, my college professor of Portuguese and Linguistics and my heartfelt long letter arrived two days too late, but her son read it and read it at her memorial that weekend. She was diagnosed and then died much too quickly in her 50s and that was cruel.

In a perfect world, everyone that I loved could be clicked on with my mouse and dragged into a home in my neighborhood, close to me.

Remember, which author was it who was rejected 28 times before they took off like a rocket to the stars?!?!?!? Submit the book for publication to 30 businesses, one at a time, while you work on the new novel. Heheheheh

What a fun and great memory Azur ~ and touching how your note got there... Amazing your thoughts were 'there'.  I'm sorry you're disappointed and I can only imagine this must be one heck of a short list because your writing is sooo Good - However, I'm glad you are still considering doing as your heart tells you.  I'm thinking of you dear one ~ Elyse

Well, I guess shortlisted is better than not listed at all, but I know it is disappointing for you none the less.

funny how we meet people along the way and some stay around forever
others just drift away. I often wonder what has happen to people who sailed through my life.

There are other publishers.
I know one of them is going to publish your story. I'm sorry you lost the friend. Now that it's Saturday, maybe you'll have a cup of tea and celebrate her.

Azur
Sometimes we're condemned to be late - with our thoughts, with our love, with our letters...But you have the memories...And I know you will succeed with your writing...

I know how good your writing is and you have muliple talents where writing
is concerned. Competitions are so subjective......so much depends on the judges. I entered a 10minute play in a competition in Sydney...and it was short listed and they would let me put it on in the theatre ...if I paid all the costs. Scams that's what some of these things are.

I am so sorry you have to wait until next year! And what a heart warming story! I was almost afraid the letter wasn't going to make in time! sam

Amazing how one trip could make such a difference in one's life, in terms
of meeting wonderful people that "stay" with you a lifetime...
