You have me nodding in agreement here, and laughing out loud.  I wonder if Ell has one in her vast inventory of auction junk - er - collectibles.

I read about your back scratcher, and I'm suddenly developing an itch on my back - but I ain't got one and wish I had...

About this business of holding up people at the check-out line - the other day, being in a rush, I stop at the supermarket to pick up 1 item ( a bunch of asparagus, actually), get to the 1-8 item check-out...great, just one little old lady in front of me with one jar of something; she opens this huge leather bag she carries, puts it on the conveyor belt; hauls out a large purse and opens it; after some digging she hauls out a smaller purse and opens that; opens the smaller purse and starts fishing for the coins, inspecting each one carefully to make sure that she doesn't make a mistake with the loonies and the toonies (and our Canadians, at least, will know what I'm talking about, LOL); the coins are placed on the conveyor belt; when she has the correct amount assembled, she scoops it up and hands it to the cashier; the cashier rings it up and hands her the receipt; she folds the receipt neatly and places it into the smallish purse that holds the coins; she carefully closes that purse and places it in the mid-sized purse; she closes that one carefully and puts it into the large leather bag; now she is ready to load the jar of something into her large leather bag, and she does; and finally, hefting the large leather bag off the conveyor belt, she trundles off...

I watched this production in awe, my impatience turning into fascination...And now, finally, after reading your post, I know what she was doing: She was adding a month's worth of points to her SIT tally...

You made me think of my magonote that son brought back from Japan when he was stationed there.  It is still stored somewhere around here after the last move.  Magonote is a Japanese back scratcher.  The word actually means "grandchild's hand".  Isn't that cute.

I LOVE back stratchers. I always have two, on for the bedroom
and on for downstairs. LOL  I hate it when my back itches in that spot ya can't reach. LOL :)

Loved your points system!  glad for your email return, by the way--and congrats on that back scratcher.  Strange how we avoid getting things, big or small, that would make such a difference in our lives. The other day I flew in the face of all good advice and outright warnings about traffic and no parking (which was true) and drove myself downtown Seattle, found the Courthouse and (after a near strip-search to get into the building) got copies of a document I needed.  All that and found where I'd parked my car afterward.  This 'daring' made me feel like I'd scratched an itch and gotten a tad younger as well.
