Thanks all.
Northsage, owing China billions in loans (they have been taking our Walmart dollars and buying our bonds and etc.) does not make us any stronger, but China is now more concerned that we do not default, or nationalize their outstanding investments.

The Republican party will willingly hurt the entire country that they purport to love so much, in order to put the only other rival party that is a viable entity, in the worst possible light, and regain control over the US government purse strings. Vietnam stripped the intrinsic value of everyone's wealth, replacing silver with worthless dross. When we went off the gold standard, it was because there wasn't enough gold to back up all the money we wanted to print. Inflation got rolling, with a ferocious tailwind. Now our money is only worth anything because government says that it is. The rest of the world is coming to recognize that we are fiscally impotent, and it won't be long before our citizens come around to realize what has been done to us with collusion from our own leaders. Sickening that things that used to cost a dime when I was a kid, ( the '50's) now costs more than a dollar. In Washington's time, a dollar would buy an ACRE of LAND! Now it won't even buy a decent HAMBURGER!
