- Go to Stimulating: Coke-snorting Monkeys and More…Part I
We're expected to cut back on our way of life.....
and our life styles to live within our means. Why is it wrong to ask the same of the governments we supposedly own.....
The only sector of our employment that has grown during all of this is in the public employee sector, both state and federal.
Sorry, it has to stop and those sucking off the "public teat" need to go on a diet.

I also have been in business all my life and I know that there are lots of shady and sometimes even terrible things going on in the private sector. Government fiscal abuses are also plentiful and I guess what makes them worse is that government is supposed to be watching over us, not screwing us over. Great post NAut. Can't wait for part II xoxoxo

Granted there are abuses in government spending, but what would our lives be like without people in public service? Are you suggesting that everything - schools, city services, national defense - be privatized? Soldiers "work for the government" and so do teachers, effectively. So, 74% of the population in Newcastle works for the government...why is that necessarily a bad thing? Are the citizens there healthy? Well fed? Educated? Are they resentful? As a US taxpayer who lives in one of the wealthiest areas of the country and who knows many more people in the financial field than in the government, I see far more in the way of fiscal abuse from the private sector. Who has the money to lend others a hand when you've got to add another 15,000 square feet to your already massive mansion? Don't you know how expensive it is to summer on Lake Cuomo and winter in Palm Beach? Not all billionaires are as philanthropic as Bill Gates! Mal

Living in Maryland I see this in full force. Per capita we have the highest income, but really it's a bunch of Marylanders working in Washington for the government.

I am so aghast at the 'stimulus' money going for a stimulus, lol! Seriously, it is a sad state of affairs! I read recently where second mortgages from foreclosures were being bought up by collection agencies for very little and they will be going after folks to get as much as they can! And on the credit card issue, they are being closed by banks even if the card has an excellent payment record. The consumer is in trouble for the most part because of the tendency to over spend! I look forward to this discussion! And, from 2009 to the present, 177 banks have closed in the US, very sad! Shelly
