I like how you play off of the typical things a poem like this would mention by using the word "proverbial."

First of all it's good - but what's even more interesting is that in spite of its sad theme it has a kind of cheery rhythm to it, and therefore isn't that dark at all! I guess even dark moods can't totally eclipse your basic cheerfulness...

That rescue me thing... sometimes it happens.
I call those moods "get outta town" days, when I want to let every problem solve itself and just take off for parts unknown. I'm so glad you added the little note that you're not that depressed. Hope you're not depressed at all, but looking forward to at least one neat thing today...
