I've never had gooseberry pie either like Naut said. I do envy you a wonderful relationship with your son, I never accomplished that with any of my kids. Hmm. Life really isn't easy is it.........

It's been years that I had gooseberry pie, though I still remember the occasion well, and the tart but delicious taste! It was in Nova Scotia, where they still practice the old skills, and the lady of the house let us sample the different pies she always bakes to sell on weekends at the Farmers' Market in Halifax...
And it's very nice to have a son who bakes and surprises his Mom with gooseberry pie...

I love this post from beginning to end.
What a wonderful thing is gooseberry pie. I wish I could find fresh gooseberries. Just not the same with the canned stuff.
What a wonderful woman you are. I can fully understand why your sons like to spend time with you.
