The beating of another human being to show dominance is too absurd for me! We are all here to enjoy life as we want to live it and not to be over powered by anyone regardless of sex in my humble opinion! Shelly

Naut
Where are those watching news? I saw a couple of journalist who had spent incredible time in both Iran and Afghanistan and having done intensive work on just this subject. In Afghanistan the young men were so cruel as were his family to their young wives many set themselves a fire as a means of suicide and often do not die from it because of the cruelty.

I understand why the women tolerate this sort of thing. It is tolerate it or die. Are we not all aware of honor killings? Also if our people in this country with all the education available can not under the ramifications to all of this how can we expect these woman so many of whom are totally ignorant to think of doing anything but accept and follow the Koran?

My God died for me. Islam's god wants them to die for him. The choice is so easy, I'll take mine.

Dear Naut, raise my hackles?

If you remember an earlier response of mine, I state that what clued me - via being horrified and outraged long before 9-11 - into Saudi Arabia and their ruling family's twisted interpretation of Islam was the tragic abuse of women, wife beating included, obviously - I linked the books co-authored by a Saudi princess.

I am not savvy about debate techniques, but I wonder if pressing for an emotional reaction is one that is commonly used - to distract from logic and the progression of thought out discourse..matter over mind as it were...:)

Wife beating (or any interpretation of it) is an abhorance in my opinion.  So is husband beating and child beating.  There is a better way.  It is called love and it is described in   First Corinthians, chapter 13, of The Holy Bible.

THE MAJORITY OF MUSLIMS DO NOT PRACTICE OR TOLERATE

WIFE BEATING - Hoping your readers got that, because you make it sound as though they do and as if I condone it. Playing a bit unfair here, aren't we, Naut?..hmm, I guess when the facts become too obvious and inconvenient...twist away all you want, but Your opinion does NOT a fact make.  Any debater half worth his salt knows that.

Much is lost and/or changed in any translation. If you spoke, wrote Arabic, then you would have a stronger case. BTW, why didn't you address the passages that are clearer on the treatment of women - you know, the ones that warn against wife beating?

Oh my gawd!  I can not believe any woman would not be up in arms against something that promotes wife beating... I just can't understand it.  It is... sad.  Your repost is as always clear and to the point.  Thank you Naut ,  be well xoxoxo
